Today is the last day of my “vacation”—the one I’d planned to spend celebrating your birthday—but life had other ideas, and I am still in Pennsylvania. Instead of candlelit dinners and city strolls, I found comfort near home. Mornings began with quick shopping trips alongside Mom (she’s become my favorite bargain-hunting partner), and afternoons were reserved for hikes with Pooka, whose boundless energy is the best reminder to slow down and breathe in the fresh air.
I was on my couch when I wasn’t on the trails, courtesy of Lamis’s recommendation to binge Killing Eve. There’s something delicious about losing myself in Eve and Villanelle’s cat-and-mouse game after a day of crossing off emails and to-dos. Speaking of work, catching up on my inbox felt like unburying myself from a small avalanche—what a relief to hit “inbox zero” and reclaim some mental space.
Today is Hannah’s dentist appointment. Didi generously offered to take her, probably because he assumed I’d be at the office, not realizing I’d rather spend my “work day” in sweatpants. I’m grateful for the help (and a few extra hours of freedom). Razanne, meanwhile, is off in Vermont on some undisclosed adventure; I only get her Snapchats of mountain vistas and llama selfies.
I’ve been eyeing that Peloton Plus listing between errands and streaming marathons. My offer is sitting with the seller until Friday—fingers crossed it goes through. If not, I’ll dust off my old outdoor bike and chase spring’s first golden hour rides. Either way, I’m determined to keep moving, whether it’s on a state-of-the-art machine or a creaky two-wheeler.
Since Ayman’s away this week, I’ve been riffing on two quick questions: first, have you ever tried liquid Vitamin D drops? My mom brought back a Tunisian brand that claims each squeeze lasts three months. It sounds almost too good to be true—are those long-lasting drops effective, and is there anything I should watch out for? Second, what simple self-care ritual would you recommend for keeping energy levels up on busy days? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
